Hypno4Birth - Natural Childbirth Using Hypnosis

Wendy's Story

I'm happy to say that Chandler Ellen was born on Friday, the 14th! I used my self hypnosis and it worked wonderfully.

There were some times that Jake stepped in and helped me relax further, which was extremely helpful, especially since one of those times I told him I might want to get the epidural! He calmly told me how great I was doing and that he believed I could do it and relax.

I didn't get as deep as I did with my practice, which was disappointing, but understandable, I suppose. I also didn't get my anesthesia to work successfully. BUT--I will say that the hypnosis helped me to relax my body even though it was difficult and that, in and of itself, is key to pain control.

I did agree to an induction, and my doctor was kind enough to wait as long as possible before starting Pitocin. After breaking my water, my labor didn't start, so she gave me the minimum dose, which was 1 unit per hour. (She normally starts inductions with 6 units!) That seemed to help, but still nothing regular was happening, so she upped it to 2 units after a couple hours. That seemed to do the trick, and that was when I struggled with wanting the epidural. So I didn't get the epidural, but I did get a dose of Stadol. That didn't stop the pain but it helped me get into a deeper relaxation--yes!!!

So, all in all, I am very pleased with how well the hypnosis worked for us!!! Thanks so much for all your help!!!
